21st Century Human Questionnaire
Here's another one of these questionnaires, and I am, as always, jumping on it. These kind of go back to the Deviantart days with those question memes, and those were always really fun... well hey, they're still really fun! Original here.
- 1. What's your name? How old are you? How would you describe yourself?
- Call me Callie. I'm 30 as of taking this, and I'm too old to be such a mess. Being a bit nicer though, I'm pretty reserved and laid-back with an interest in creative arts.
- 2. What was your upbringing like?
- It was fine, my parents were loving (if a bit permissive) and I wasn't mistreated or anything.
- 3. What are your hobbies? How do you like to spend your free time?
- I have mostly creative hobbies, like writing and drawing, but I also like things like reading, music, and games. I'm kind of in a creative slump, so I've been spending more times on books and games than producing things of my own lately, but I used to spend most of my time writing.
- 4. What kind of music do you like?
- I'm not a connoisseur who listens to everything, but my taste is decently varied. My favourite genres are Chamber Pop, Post Hardcore, and Pop Punk, with secondary interests in Indie Rock, Prog Pop/Rock and Folk Punk. But really my favourites are anything with heady composition and interesting lyrics, a sort of majestic but sad/edgy atmosphere, and especially things that are well put-together but just weird.
- 5. Favorite movies / TV shows?
- I don't really watch movies often enough for anything to stand out as a favourite, but my favourite TV show is Bryan Fuller's Dead Like Me, which is about a girl who dies and becomes a grim reaper. It has a really good albeit dark sense of humour that appeals to me a lot, and when I was younger I identified with the main character. It's been a long time since I've watched it though, so I don't know if my opinion has changed. I kind of hope it hasn't! I'm a little scared to rewatch and see...!
- 6. Do you like any video games?
- I've sunk a lot of hours into CRPGs like Wrath of the Righteous and Divinity Original Sin 2, but lately what I've been playing is World of Warcraft. I mostly play Classic and I like levelling more than the endgame, so when I have nothing to do for a week I just fire up another alt and get to it... but then I need a long break from it. I mainly play healers like Priest and Druid. I'm looking forward to Classic+!
- 7. Favorite literature? This could be a novel, a book series, a comic, etc.
- oooo. The book that sticks out most in my mind is R A Lafferty's Fourth Mansions, which is an insane story about a man facing four different supernatural factions and having to synthesize lessons from all of them to ascend to a higher state of being. Or you could call it a really good, really advanced political compass meme shitpost. I often forget books (and media in general) shortly after I read them, but I remember the vibe and insanity of this one pretty well. It was really unique.
My favourite comfort series though is Animorphs, which has stuck with me since I was a kid. I also like Kino no Tabi a lot but it's been a long time since I've read through it. - 8. How has art affected your life?
- A lot of my identity is wrapped up in art in some way, either making or consuming it, being the weird creative kid who spent most of her time dreaming up scenarios for characters, identifying onto them and drawing and the like... once I got into OCs it's basically all I spent my time doing.
- 9. What are your hopes for the future of humanity?
- I really hope humanity in general can come to a post-scarcity place where it's guaranteed that everyone can be provided for, people are generally free to be what they want (without hurting others), and energy to power infrastructure is renewable and effective... and that there's less pollution.
- 10. Any hopes or aspirations for your own future?
- I used to have an aspiration to get a book published, but I'm not really striving for that anymore. For now it's just a matter of being content with each day as it comes.
- 11. If sentient extraterrestrial life were to exist, what would you want to tell them about humanity?
- I'm not the best representative for this. I'd really want to compare notes with our technology and steal some of theirs if it's better. Otherwise, idk, I'd show them Shakespeare and Poe and Da Vinci and shit.
- 12. Do you currently have / have you had any pets or livestock?
- I've had pets for as long as I've lived. Right now it's a tuxedo cat called David.
- 13. How do you hope people remember you?
- eurgh. For most people I kinda don't want to be important enough to leave an impression like that, in a personal way, really. Like I'd prefer if I was 'just that person who wrote GoH that I liked', who 'drew art for me I liked on Artfight,' who 'made a funny post on Toyhouse once', that kind of thing... for others though I'd like to be dependable and like, generally friendly...
- 14. Do you have any advice for younger people?
- Most people are dealing with some kind of bullshit, so don't take what they say too personally, but also don't judge them too quickly.
- 15. Are you religious?
- No.
- 16. What do you think the meaning of life is?
- Enjoy yourself as much as you can while you're alive, and try not to let others get hurt. There's probably nothing after this and the only thing that guarantees kindness for anyone is the existence of people who consciously act to be kind.
- 17. Do you have any fears?
- An injury or circumstance where I'm unable to take care of my basic needs and am stuck alone is pretty scary.
- 18. What makes you happy?
- My friends, my favourite music, certain youtubers, artfight, good food, making money in Flight Rising, thinking about my OCs, finishing stories with my OCs...
- 19. What kind of food do you like to eat?
- The Katsudon.
- 20. Do you have a favorite animal?
- All Birds.
- 21. Do you have a favorite color?
- Probably light blue or bright tyrian magenta?
- 22. What do you wish you had known earlier?
- It's not worth it.
